Custoza DOC – The White Wine We Didn’t Expect to Love This Much
Sometimes the best wines are the ones you discover by accident.
That is exactly what happened with this Custoza DOC from the hills near Lake Garda.
We were tasting wines with the producer in the Veronese countryside when this bright straw-yellow white was poured into the glass.
The aroma came first:
fresh fruit, delicate floral notes and a subtle aromatic touch that immediately made us want another sip.
And once we tasted it, we looked at each other and thought:
“Okay… this is really good.”
Why This Blend Works So Well
Custoza DOC is made from five grape varieties:
Garganega, Cortese, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Tocai Friulano.
Together they create something beautifully balanced.
Freshness.
Soft texture.
Minerality.
Fruit.
Nothing dominates.
Everything works together.
How We Actually Drink It
This has quietly become one of our favourite white wines for relaxed evenings.
Perfect:
It is fresh without being too sharp.
Easy to drink without feeling simple.
The Awards Help — But the Wine Speaks for Itself
93 Luca Maroni points.
Prague Gold.
4 Stars from Vini Buoni d’Italia.
Impressive, of course.
But honestly?
We already loved it before reading any of that.
Why We Recommend It
Because this Custoza DOC feels authentic.
It does not try to be trendy or overly complex.
It is simply a beautifully made Italian white wine that delivers far more than you expect for the price.
And those are often the wines people come back to again and again.
