Artisanal Honeys from Lake Garda: Purity and Beekeeping Tradition

Artisanal honey from Lake Garda originates from the rich biodiversity of the Benaco flora, where Mediterranean vegetation meets subalpine. Local beekeepers practice environmentally friendly and bee-friendly beekeeping, ensuring a pure, raw, and cold-processed honey without any industrial pasteurization.

Honey Varieties in Our Catalog

Our selection offers an overview of the best blooms in the Lake Garda area:

  • Lake Garda Wildflower Honey: The botanical portrait of the region. Characterized by a golden color, a rich and floral aroma, it is the ideal honey for everyday breakfast.
  • Acacia Honey: Very light, liquid, and delicate, with notes of sugared almonds and vanilla. Excellent as a natural sweetener as it does not alter the flavors of beverages.
  • Chestnut Honey: Dark in color with an intense and slightly bitter taste. Rich in mineral salts, it pairs perfectly with aged cheeses from Lake Garda.
  • Forest Honeydew Honey: A dark honey, less sweet and rich in trace elements and minerals, highly valued for its invigorating properties.

Nutritional Properties and Use in Cooking

Raw honey is a natural source of readily absorbable energy, rich in enzymes, vitamins, and antioxidants. In addition to its classic use with herbal teas and warm milk, it pairs wonderfully with local cheeses (such as Formai de Mut or goat cheeses), fresh fruit, yogurts, and in the preparation of traditional desserts.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does "unpasteurized" honey mean?

It means that the honey is not subjected to high-temperature heat treatments. Pasteurization makes honey consistently liquid but destroys its nutritional properties and delicate aromas. Our honey retains all its original qualities.

Why does honey crystallize?

Crystallization is an entirely natural process and a guarantee of honey purity (with the exception of Acacia honey, which remains liquid for a long time). If you prefer it liquid, simply warm the jar gently in a bain-marie below 40°C.
