The 10 Most Beautiful Beaches of Lake Garda: Guide and Practical Tips
Let's be honest: when you think of Lake Garda, the first image that comes to mind is historic villages, castles, and small harbors. But in summer, when temperatures rise, the only thing you truly desire is to find a nice beach for a swim.
Garda is full of fantastic spots, but they are very different from each other. They range from smooth rock slabs to lawns in the shade of olive trees, and even equipped lidos where you can sip a drink. To save you from aimlessly driving around looking for parking or the right spot, we have selected ten beaches that we believe are absolutely worth a stop.
Must-Visit Beaches in the South and East
If you're looking for a landscape that almost resembles the Caribbean, a must-visit is Jamaica Beach in Sirmione. It's located right at the tip of the peninsula, below the ruins of the Grotte di Catullo. Here you won't find the usual sand, but enormous smooth stone slabs emerging from the turquoise water. It's a unique spot, perfect for sunbathing, but bring a pair of rubber shoes: the rocks underwater can be very slippery.
A little further north, near Punta San Vigilio, is Baia delle Sirene. It's a beach nestled in a private park among ancient olive trees. There is an entrance fee (the ticket includes parking and sun loungers), but the tranquility and beauty of the water make every penny worthwhile. If you prefer something more family-friendly, Lido delle Bionde (also in Sirmione) or Lido Mirabello in Bardolino offer well-maintained lawns, pedal boat rentals, and bars within easy reach.
For Those Who Love Cool Water and Open Spaces (North and West)
Heading up towards the Trentino shore, the landscape changes, and the mountains plunge directly into the water. In Riva del Garda, Spiaggia dei Pini and Spiaggia Sabbioni are huge expanses of grass and small pebbles with clear and decidedly refreshing water. It's the favorite meeting point for those who love windsurfing or simply relaxing in the cool after a walk.
On the Brescia shore, Spiaggia Pisenze in Manerba deserves a special mention, protected by the Rocca Reserve: an unspoiled place, closed to motorboat traffic, where the water is crystal clear. And if you're traveling with your dog, don't worry: in Peschiera, you'll find the famous Braccobaldo Beach, a real equipped beach designed specifically for four-legged friends.
A little trick to keep in mind: almost all of Garda's beaches are made of pebbles or stones. Pack a pair of rock shoes in your backpack, and you'll find that getting into the water will be a pleasure.
