Desenzano del Garda is preparing to host the fourth edition of the Artisan Chocolate Festival. Four years ago, someone had the idea of bringing artisan chocolate to the shores of Lake Garda, and every year the response is the same: people arrive, smell, taste, and can't bear to leave. It's the chocolate's fault, of course.
When and where
From Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM until late evening, Piazza Cappelletti will be transformed—thanks to the patronage of the Municipality of Desenzano—into a large open-air chocolate shop. Three full days. No excuses are valid.
The location is no coincidence: Piazza Cappelletti is one of the most beautiful squares on the lake, directly overlooking the water, with its monumental fountain in the center. The kind of place where even just a stroll is an experience. Add to that the scent of chocolate wafting through the air, and you understand why this event grows with each edition.
Who you will find
Master Chocolatiers from all over Italy will bring their creations, each with their own story, region, and obsession for quality. We're talking about:
- Piedmontese Gianduiotti, the real ones, that melt even before you put them in your mouth
- Refined pralines, for those who want to feel a bit like Willy Wonka
- Spiced chocolate, for adventurous palates (and for those who have already tried everything else)
- Cremini and broken chocolate pieces, timeless classics
- Recipes with dried fruit and innovative creations, because artisan chocolate never ceases to surprise
Why artisan truly makes a difference
It's not just marketing. Artisan chocolate stands out for the quality of its raw materials, careful processing, and the complete absence of additives and preservatives. The result? A product that literally melts in your mouth, with aromas and flavors that industrial chocolate cannot even come close to.
However, there's an important detail: artisan chocolate should be enjoyed fresh, directly from the producer. It's not the kind of thing you buy, put in a drawer, and rediscover at Christmas. It's an experience to be lived in the moment—and the Desenzano Chocolate Festival is exactly the right setting for it.
An event for everyone (really)
Families with children, couples looking for a day trip, food enthusiasts, tourists passing through Garda: the event is designed to welcome anyone with a minimum of curiosity and a functioning palate. Admission is free, the atmosphere is typical of Italian town festivals—lively, fragrant, with that background hum that puts you in a good mood even if you don't quite know why.
And if you're already on Lake Garda for the weekend, consider this another reason not to go home too early.
