In recent years, Lake Garda has transformed into a true mecca for cycling enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned mountain biker or simply looking for a relaxing e-bike ride without too much effort, the variety of routes here is simply incredible.

The talk of the town is the suspended cycle path in Limone sul Garda. But what makes it so special?

The Feeling of Cycling Over Water in Limone

Opened a few years ago, this walkway is attached directly to the rock face and extends for about two and a half kilometers, dozens of meters above the lake. When you traverse it, on foot or by bike, you literally feel like you're flying over the water.

The route is very easy, completely flat, and suitable for everyone, including young children. A friendly tip: on summer weekends, it can get very crowded. The best time to enjoy it in peace is early in the morning, or at sunset, when the walkway lights up, creating a magical atmosphere. Leave your car in the Limone car parks and reach it with a pleasant walk from the town center.

Other Must-Do Itineraries

The Limone walkway is just a taste of the larger "Garda By Bike" project, which will eventually connect the entire perimeter of the lake. In the meantime, there are other fantastic routes to explore:

• From Peschiera to Mantua along the Mincio: This is one of Italy's most famous cycle paths. It follows the course of the river for over 40 kilometers on an asphalt road, closed to traffic and immersed in greenery. It's all gently downhill or flat, perfect for a family outing with a stop for lunch in the delightful village of Borghetto.

• The Strada della Ponale in Riva del Garda: If you love epic views and mountain biking, this is your route. It's an old road carved into the rock face overlooking the lake that ascends towards the Ledro Valley. The panorama from up here is breathtaking at every turn.

• Rides through the Bardolino hills: If you prefer to combine two wheels with a good glass of wine, the hills behind Bardolino and Lazise are full of quiet dirt roads that wind through vineyards and olive groves.

If you haven't brought your bike with you, no problem: in almost all towns, you'll find shops that rent state-of-the-art e-bikes at affordable prices.
