Imagine cycling with the lake beneath your feet. Not beside, not in front — beneath. A cycle path suspended on the rock, overhanging the water, with the wind coming from the north and the colours of Lake Garda changing with every bend. It's not a dream. In 2026, it's a reality.
At FeelGarda, we have been following the Lake Garda cycle path project for years — with enthusiasm, with some frustration due to delays, and with the satisfaction of being able to say now: it was worth it.
The Project: A Cycle Path Around the Lake
The goal is ambitious: a continuous cycle path that covers the entire perimeter of Lake Garda, approximately 160 kilometres, connecting all the lakeside municipalities without ever losing contact with the water. A project that involves three provinces — Verona, Brescia, and Trento — and requires extraordinary engineering solutions in the sections where the mountain plunges directly into the lake.
Those sections are the most spectacular. And they are the ones that saw the most significant progress in 2026.
New Sections Opened in 2026
The Cantilevered Cycle Path of Limone sul Garda
The most anticipated and photographed section. A steel and glass structure anchored directly to the limestone rock of the Brescia shore, suspended over the water for over two kilometres. Wide enough for two-way traffic, with equipped panoramic viewpoints and side protections that do not obstruct the view.
Length: approximately 2.3 km | Difficulty: easy | Elevation gain: minimal
The Riva del Garda — Torbole Connection
A short but strategic section that completes the connection between the two most beloved resorts by cyclists from Northern Europe. Usable in both directions, with a direct view of the lake and Monte Baldo in the background.
Length: approximately 4 km | Difficulty: easy | Elevation gain: almost none
The Gargnano — Bogliaco Section
One of the wildest and least frequented sections of the Brescia shore. The new cycle path crosses an area of great natural beauty, with ancient olive trees on one side and the lake on the other. Less spectacular than the cantilevered structures, but perhaps more authentic.
Length: approximately 3.5 km | Difficulty: easy-medium | Elevation gain: slight
Must-See Panoramic Points
Along the new sections, some spots are worth a stop:
- Belvedere di Limone: the most photographed view of 2026. The lake opens up in all its width, with the mountains of the Verona shore in the background.
- Punta di Riva: where the lake narrows and the Ora wind begins to blow. Ideal for those who want to understand why Torbole is the European capital of windsurfing.
- The olive groves of Gargnano: not an equipped viewpoint, but a moment of silent beauty among the oldest trees of the lake.
Practical Information for Cyclists
Recommended bikes: trekking bikes or e-bikes for flat cantilevered sections; mountain bikes for internal hilly routes. E-bikes can be easily rented in all major lake centres.
Best time: April-June and September-October. July and August are beautiful but crowded — the cycle path becomes a pedestrian walk during the central hours of the day.
Please note: some sections are not yet completed. Before setting off, check the status of the works on the official website of the Ciclabile del Garda project.
The Cycle Path and the Territory: A Winning Combination
The new cycle path is not just infrastructure. It's a different way of experiencing the lake — slow, quiet, human-scaled. You cycle, you stop, you enter a village, you buy something at the market or in a local shop, you set off again.
At FeelGarda, we believe in this type of tourism. One that leaves something for the territory, that values local producers, that transforms a holiday into a real experience. The Lake Garda cycle path goes exactly in this direction.
And we will be here, with our products, waiting for you at the end of the tour.
