There's a moment, on the first morning in a tent or bungalow with a lake view, when children stop asking for Wi-Fi and start looking at the water. That moment is worth the whole trip.
At FeelGarda, we call it "the Garda effect": it happens to everyone, sooner or later. And it happens especially here, on the eastern side of the lake, between Lazise and Bardolino — two of the most beloved villages by German and Dutch families who choose camping as a base to explore the area every summer.
We've travelled, observed, spoken with managers and families. Here's our list.
Why Lazise and Bardolino for family camping?
The short answer: because it works. The long answer: because this area of Garda combines equipped beaches, shallow and safe waters for children, medieval villages within cycling distance, weekly markets, nearby water parks, and a high density of accommodation facilities that guarantee choice and quality. All in a landscape that, let's face it, needs no introduction.

What to bring (and what to find on site)
The campsites on Lake Garda are well-equipped, but a few tips from those who live here won't hurt. Bring rock shoes — some beaches are pebbly. Bring a thermal water bottle — the heat in July and August is real. And bring your desire to explore: the weekly markets in Bardolino and Lazise are just a few minutes away by bike and offer local products worth discovering.
For typical products to take home — DOP oil, Garda wines, honey, preserves — we at FeelGarda take care of everything. Even from here, even for you.
A final note
Camping on Lake Garda is not a second-rate holiday. It's a choice. The choice to wake up with the lake in front of you, to have breakfast outdoors, to let the children run free while you enjoy a coffee in peace. It's one of the most beautiful things this lake has to offer — and it costs much less than you think.
